Elia Greek Cuisine opened its doors in 2007, founded by two sisters, Charoula and Anastasia, who brought with them years of experience from working in renowned restaurants across Munich. With a passion for Greek food and culture, they decided to create something of their own in the heart of Schwabing.

The name Elia comes from the olive tree, which reminded the owners of their mother, who hailed from Epirus, a region in Greece. The olive branch became a symbol of their deep connection to their roots.

At Elia, our philosophy is built on serving only the freshest ingredients, many of which are homemade. We focus on traditional Greek dishes, keeping our recipes authentic while adapting them to modern tastes. We strive to deliver fresh, seasonal food that speaks to both the past and present, offering a true tasteof Greece in every bite.

Today, the restaurant is led by George Kourtis, the son and nephew of the founders, who continues to uphold the family’s vision while welcoming a new generation of guests
